Sidbury Art group started back in the early 1990s so that people who enjoy drawing and painting can get together with other like-minded people. We are a self-help group and we can seek ideas and opinions from each other. Beginners, experienced artists and those in between are equally welcome. It has been wonderful to have one member’s talented young grandson at some of our meetings.
Our meetings are held on Thursday mornings from 10 till 12. We have moved from the Parish Room to the Village Hall to enable us to be more spaced out.
Although we have no official tuition for our weekly meetings, we have workshops from time to time with artists in various media. In March we had a fantastic workshop in oils led by artist Julie Dunster, where the focus was on aerial perspective.
With the exception of the last two years, we have held an annual art exhibition. Members display their paintings free of charge although a commission from each sale adds to our coffers. In addition we serve refreshments and have a sales table. This year we have booked the Sidbury Village Hall for Saturday May 14th.
If you would be interested in joining our friendly group you can call in the Village Hall on a Thursday morning or phone Janice Faulkner on 01395 597521 for more information.
